Launch Waterbody Lookup Tool

This tool uses data from NY iMapInvasives to quickly provide a list of aquatic invasive species reported in a selected waterbody, or a list of waterbodies in which a selected species has been documented. The absence of data for a species does not equate to the absence of that species from a given waterbody.

Using this tool

You can use the filter tool to narrow your search by waterbody, county, and/or species. If you filter by waterbody, it will show all species recorded at that waterbody. If you select by species, it will show waterbodies with observations of that species.*

Under each select menu, you’ll be able to make multiple selections at once. If you make multiple different searches, be sure to unselect previous search selections between searches, or use the reset button.

See the sections below for info on how to search by each criteria.

*The iMapInvasives waterbodies layer/list is not comprehensive, and is continually being updated. If a waterbody is not listed in this tool, it is because 1) iMap currently has no records of invasives at that waterbody, or 2) that waterbody is not included in the iMap waterbodies layer, or 3) there are relevant invasive species records that fall just outside of the waterbody map layer. You can view the data records and waterbody map layer in iMapInvasives Online at: https:// imapinvasives.natureserve.org/imap/services/page/map.html

Waterbody Lookup Tool

You can use the filter tool to get a list of species observed in specific waterbodies and/or counties. Distinct waterbodies with the same name can be differentiated by the county name listed in parentheses. Waterbodies with no iMap records will not be listed.* Counties from other jurisdictions are included where waterbodies cross the NY border.

Filters are dynamic; if you select something in one filter, the options available in other filters will change.

Search by Waterbody and County

You can use the filter tool to get a list of waterbodies that contain a specific species. Use the select by species option to pick a single species, then all waterbodies with an observation of that species will be listed.

If a species is selected, the species table will only show the selected species, and the waterbody table will show a list of waterbodies where that species has been observed.
